Seeking volunteers with Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH)
As there are usually no symptoms to alert you to the problem, the fat in the liver keeps building up, resulting in a condition known as nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). NASH can lead to cirrhosis (scarring of the liver), liver cancer, the need for liver transplantation and even death.
Although the cause is unknown, NASH is more likely to be seen in people with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides (a type of fat in the blood) or who are overweight or obese. Currently there is no medical treatment available for NASH with fibrosis (initial stage scarring of the liver). The MIRNA clinical research study is investigating a potential treatment for NASH.
A member of our medical team will contact you to ask you a few more questions, answer any questions you have and schedule an appointment for an office visit. In accordance with HIPAA regulations, your personal information will be maintained in strict confidence and will not be sold or used for any purpose.
